Alpenglow is the warm, rosy light that bathes the peaks of mountains when the sun is just below the horizon, picture Dolly Parton as the sun rises. It’s like nature’s special effects team decided to throw a rom-com sunset on the hardest-to-reach places on Earth. Dolly can keep her pink horse, this is the real aesthetic.

Origin of  1870–75; < German Alpenglühen (Alpen-Glue), with glow replacing German glühenhe (Alpen-man) word comes from German — “Alpen” meaning Alps and “glow” meaning, well… glow — so technically it translates to “Alps glow.” Which is cute, because now that word is free to describe every beautiful dinner-on-the-balcony moment when the woman of your dreams walks in and you start blushing.

Example: We were halfway through our pizza and I looked up at the sky — pure alpenglow — and swore the clouds were auditioning for the next Marvel villain story arc.

How to use: The numerous amount of Twin Peaks with the most beautiful of alpenglows I had ever experienced occurred while I was visiting Germany during OctoberFest.
